The PKU Student Chapter of SIAM will organize a student forum on April 15. The forum focuses on widening the students' vision and increasing student's interests about the applied math. We invite four young academics to give talks on novel application of scientific computing. After academic talks, some outstanding graduate students will share their experience and research, which are good for career planning of lower class students. Undergraduate and graduate students are especially encouraged to come to get ideas for future research.

AFEPack (Adaptive Finite Element Pack), developed by Professor Ruo Li, is a C++ library for the finite element method. This package has an efficient method to handle the grid, which provides much benefit to numerical researcher in FEM, FDM and FVM. The seminar is organized by the graduate students in Ruo Li's group and its original aim is to teach students in Ruo Li's group how to use this pack. Now it is open to all undergraduate and graduate students and the content includes the usage of C++, Matlab and the implementation of some classical numerical methods. The graduate students in scientific computing are especially encouraged to come.
The PKU Chapter of SIAM will organize a student forum on June 2nd with THU Chapter and LSEC Chapter. This forum focus on the conmunication among chapters. We invite two young academics and six outstanding graduate students from three chapters to give talks and share experience. All are welcome!
